Rohit Sharma is being monitored by the medical team, will have clarity tomorrow: Rahul Dravid – SportsMediaz

After testing positive for the second time, Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the fifth Test against England in Edgbaston and Jasprit Bumrah has been named captain of the team, news agency PTI reported on Wednesday.

The Indian team coach Rahul Dravid in a press conference said, “he is being monitored from the medical team. He’ll have a Test tonight and in the morning to see if he is available. We’ll have clarity on him tomorrow. It (Bumrah bit) shouldn’t come from me.”.

On being asked about the continuous change in the captaincy, Dravid added, “It is what it is. It’s happened. We just have to react to that. It is of course not something that you want to start off with.

But inspite of the number of captains we’ve had we’ve been playing pretty good cricket. Yes, the South Africa Test series was the one I would have wanted to win after going one up.”

Virat Kohli has been struggling with his willow for a long time now. He has not scored a century since 2019. On Kohli’s form, “ I don’t agree with what you said. He’s probably in my mind on the right side of 30’s. He is incredibly fit. He is one of the most hard working guy I’ve come across him. Especially the way he played the practice game. The way he approached the game. He was keen to play our guys, our bowlers. He was keen to face Bumrah”, the Indian coach added.
